.: Death Note .:. I Have the Shinigami Eyes .: by moonlightamber .: Death Note .:. I Have the Shinigami Eyes .: by moonlightamber
Haven't drawn fanart in a long time. Haven't completed a legitimate anime-style drawing in even longer. :O_o:

I watched episodes 1-25 and 37 of Death Note recently because my friend who had watched both Code Geass and D.N. told me that D.N. was way better. I was like "... not likely". >=]

:? I know the series still had good things to offer after my beloved L's death, but I'll never forgive Light. Needless to say, I'm not a fan of Light. I also sort of despise Misa, but it was touching how she gave up half of her life twice for the coveted Shinigami eyes. Oh gosh...

I'm not very eloquent so I won't rant here about my thoughts on the series. Overall, it's excellent. The art's really well done, the script is good, and of course, the plot is totally unpredictable. Do I like Death Note better than Code Geass? Hard to say. I definitely still admire Lelouch immensely, and I like CLAMP-style characters and cleaner, colourful animation, but both plotlines tugged on my heartstrings. In different ways. :tears:

Misa character belongs to Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata

Drawing by Meng Zhao
I pretty much used up an entire Prismacolour black pencil on this drawing because I had a crappy sharpener. =_=

I LOVE Deathnote! ...I would say that Deathnote is better, had L not died. L was the best character in the world, and when he died, I was about to strangle Light via the interent...which is why I like Code Geass better. *SPOILER* When Lelouch dies, at least he dies for a darn good reason and it makes you wonder hours after the show ends. But needless to say, Deathnote and Code Geass ARE my two favorite animes....and you depicted Misa very well. :P Okay...sorry for making you read my anime rant...

I liked reading your rant! I'm glad we seem to think similarly of these series. Yeah, I definitely admire Lelouch for keeping some of his humanity. I liked how beautifully conflicting it was when his human side sometimes got in the way of his cause ("do the ends justify the means?" is so hard to answer when you're halfway to your goal, but the rest of your journey involves as much destruction as you've already caused). But with Light... he had none of the essence that makes it easier for me to sympathize with his cause, even though he's right: only he could do it -- only he was necessarily heartless enough to build his new world. And of course, he killed L. =( If I could capture L's essence in a picture, I would. But I can't yet.

Thanks for viewing! I'm glad you approve. :blowkiss: I haven't seen many good animes. Baccano and Cowboy Bebop are next on my list. I just suddenly had this image of Misa in my head and couldn't do anything until I'd put her image to paper. =D

Well, if you need a good anime, I'm watching one called Durarara right now. It gets really really good after the first three episodes, which are kind of slow...And I know what you mean. Drawing fan art is really hard because if you don't capture the character right, it doesn't look good at all.
